Enhancing illumination at Redcliffe Engineering

Redcliffe Precision Limited (RPL) is a privately owned company providing precision engineering services primarily to the Aerospace Industry. They specialise in Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Machining, Minor Assembly, Precision Thread Rolling and Thread Testing for cracks and deviations.

Logical Energy Consultants in partnership with Sylvania Concord Lighting were commissioned to design and install lighting equipment into the whole factory area.

In this instance, T8  Fluorescent Tube lighting was fitted throughout the factory which had degraded in parts giving lower than recommended light levels for this type of operation.

Through careful design, the lighting was upgraded to IP 65 LED units achieving the light levels and uniformity recommended by CIBSE/ British Standards which has resulted in far superior lighting conditions combined with impressive cost savings.

It has been calculated that the new installation will reduce power and maintenance costs by 76% p/a and given the operating hours of the factory, a full return on investment will be achieved in 1.59 years. To further support the cost effectiveness of the project, a lease purchase agreement was implemented totally negating the requirement for up-front capital expenditure and in fact proving to be cash positive from day one!
